Botulinum toxin
Scientific foundations and mechanism of action
Botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox, is a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When injected into targeted muscles, it temporarily relaxes them, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles to reveal a refreshed, more youthful appearance. Botox isn’t just limited to aesthetic treatments; it’s also an effective option for addressing medical conditions. It can help with chronic migraines, teeth grinding (bruxism), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), and muscle spasms, offering relief and improving quality of life.
